sometime in 1971: I heard a song by Johnny Cash and just couldn't shake the sound of that lead guitar...it must have been while listening to WNYR in my dad's El Camino on a Sunday drive to Uncle George's house! That, plus my Grampa Curly let me strum his guitar at a family picnic...wow! (to this day, I let young kids strum my guitar to show them how "easy" it is make music)
Fall 1973: started playing guitar through a 5th grade school music club (thank you, Mis Bedette!); got my first folk guitar from Buzzo's Music in Geneseo, NY (thanks, mom & dad!)
Fall 1979: started playing guitar with my dad and my uncle in a band called "Double Trouble"; we played together for eight years in and around Livingston County and about a 50-mile radius
Fall 1987: decided to break into the Rochester Top 40 music scene by joining a band called "Crystal Palace"; we played a lot at Scoop's on Lyell Ave and Spur of the Moment on Dewey Ave.
Summer 1988: joined an originals band called "Optional Stop" led by Bill Crosby; really got going on experience in the recording studio with this band (thanks, Bill!)
January 1989: joined Nik and the Nice Guys, a local, Rochester-based show/party band as lead guitarist. Traveled to a lot of cool places and played a lot of cool gigs and met a lot of sports and TV celebrities along the way.
to be continued...
